Wheeler Mission Drumstick Dash is looking for influential runners and walkers to represent the 2024 event by joining our Ambassador Club! This is THE Club to be in, as you'll enjoy custom gear, access to pre-event promotions, VIP accommodations, and more!

Ambassadors will help represent the race, inspiring people in your community to "move their feet so others can eat!" Click “volunteer” to apply to become a Wheeler Mission Drumstick Dash Ambassador today! Applications are due by end of day April 7th and everyone will be notified about their status April 15th.

A background check is required for those chosen to be ambassadors.

Responsibilities:

Attend: Ambassador Club members must attend our Kickoff Meeting. Time and place TBD. We will talk through the Ambassador materials needed to promote the Drumstick Dash.

Distribute: Hand out flyers and other promotional materials in your local area (running stores, gyms, coffee shops, community boards, local races, etc.)

Share: Share Drumstick Dash social media posts on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram and/or create your own Drumstick Dash promo posts. Minimum of 2 unique shares and/or posts per month.

Represent: Talk to others about the Drumstick Dash - running clubs, fellow runners/walkers, friends & family, coworkers, etc. Wear Drumstick Dash gear in the community, while participating in other run/walk events, while working out, etc.

Recruit: Each ambassador is required to recruit a minimum of 5 participants. To assist you with this, we will give you a personalized tracking link and a custom referral link for $5 off registration to help you recruit! We will give weekly updates on your progress.

Volunteer: Choose a minimum of 1 opportunity:
-Drumstick Dash at Victory Field, Drumstick Dash booth during the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon Expo, Drumstick Dash Expo & Packet Pick-Up, or volunteer at one of Wheeler Mission’s sites (visit www.wheelervolunteer.org for locations and available times)

We are thankful the Expo will be set up when we arrive, but we will still need to bring in boxes and totes with items we will use for the dash! Responsibilities may include:
• Help unload box trucks: tubs of goody bags, race shirts, registration info, tables, chairs, etc.
• Setting up volunteer check-in area
• Setting up various Expo areas, etc.
• This position will be physical and mobile, including lifting and moving items around. (Must be able to lift 20lbs)

Participants will receive their Race Day Shirts at the end of the Expo before exiting the pavilion. That is where you will be! Responsibilities may include:

• Help unload/load box trucks: tubs of goody bags, race shirts, registration info, tables, chairs, etc.

There are 50 Course Fun Patrol spots along the Drumstick Dash course and volunteers (1-5 people per location, great family opportunity!) are needed to stand, cheer on participants and manage traffic.

Responsibilities may include:

- Cheer on participants as they run/walk by.
- Encourage participants to use the selfie stations along the course.
- Manage traffic as needed.

Details

At about the halfway point on the "Full Gobbler" long course is a water station for our participants. We need cheerful volunteers to:

- Set up tables
- Fill cups with water
- Hand cups of water to participants as they go by
- Cheer for participants on as they pass by
- Clean up afterwards

There will also be a DJ at the water station to make the experience even more fun!

Responsibilities may include:

- Assist setting up the Finish Line area.
- Setting up banners, bicycle racks, etc.
- Watch for the top 5 male and female finishers and hand them the appropriate prize ticket
- After this area is set and participants start finishing responsibilities will be to:
- Direct all participants to the food court
- Picking up trash as needed
- Cheer people on, etc.
- Holding the finish line tape for the first-place runner for both races and both finish lines (short and long course)

- Restocking, tear down boxes, manage trash and trash boxes around the food court area.

The celebrities will be participating in a “Celebrity Challenge” – racing against each other for a trophy!

Responsibilities may include:

- You will record the top male and female celebrities.
- You will be sitting on a ladder watching for them to finish.
- The top finishers will be instructed to see you at the Finish Line after they complete their race.
- You will have a ticket for the first place male and female celebrity to take and get their prize at the prize tent!
