Race Day: Course FuN PaTroL High Priority

Details

This year there will be some changes when it comes to this physical race. There will be two start times for the race to allow for social distancing between participants, 8:00am and 10:00am. This will mean that there will be two waves of participants running the race. Please be sure to stay till the end of your shift and tell your volunteer leader before you leave. There are 50 Course Fun Patrol spots along the Drumstick Dash course and volunteers (1-5 people per location, great family opportunity!) are needed to stand, cheer on participants and manage traffic.

Responsibilities may include:

- Cheer on participants as they run/walk by.
- Encourage participants to use the selfie stations along the course.
- Manage traffic as needed.

Responsibilities may include:

- Acting as the gatekeeper for the start line
- Ensure participants are wearing masks and adhering to social distancing guidelines
- Encouraging/cheering participants as they start the race
- Kind assertiveness is helpful
- Children accompanied by an adult are welcome

Race Day: Start Line Volunteer Leader High Priority

You must be 21 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

This year there will be some changes when it comes to this physical race. There will be two start times for the race to allow for social distancing between participants, 8:00am and 10:00am. This will mean that there will be two waves of participants finishing the race. Please be sure to stay till the end of your shift and tell the volunteer coordinator when you leave. This position will be responsible for all things around the start line throughout the morning of the dash.

Responsibilities may include:

- Train and ensure that all Start Line volunteers know their position and duties
- Being kind, but assertive in giving directions to participants
- Direct clean-up crew to pick up trash and any other debris along the course after participants have gone by.
- Solve any potential issues throughout the day

Race Day: Finish Line High Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

This year there will be some changes when it comes to this physical race. There will be two start times for the race to allow for social distancing between participants, 8:00am and 10:00am. This will mean that there will be two waves of participants finishing the race. Please be sure to stay till the end of your shift and tell your volunteer leader before you leave.

Responsibilities may include:

- Assist setting up the Finish Line area.
- Setting up banners, bicycle racks, etc.
- After this area is set and participants start finishing responsibilities will be to:
- Encourage participants to social distance and wear their masks
- Direct all participants to pick up their food court bag in the food court
- Encourage participants to continue on and leave and head to their cars after they have finished
- Picking up trash as needed
- Cheer people on, etc.
- Holding the finish line tape for the first-place runner for both races and both finish lines (short and long course)

- Setting up banners, bicycle racks, etc.
- After this area is set and participants start finishing, responsibilities will be to:
- Encourage participants to social distance and wear a mask
- Direct all participants to pick up their food court bag shortly after the finish line
- Encourage participants to continue on and leave and head to their cars after they have finished
- Picking up trash as needed
- Cheer people on, etc.
- Holding the finish line tape for the first-place runner of the short and long courses!

Race Day: First Aid Tent - Cheer Station High Priority

This year there will be some changes when it comes to this physical race. There will be two start times for the race to allow for social distancing between participants, 8:00am and 10:00am. This will mean that there will be two waves of participants finishing the race. Please be sure to stay till the end of your shift and tell your volunteer leader before you leave. From scraped knees to twisted ankles – there is need for First Aid volunteers!

Responsibilities may include:

- Giving care to participants with any minor physical needs
- If anyone is in need of an emergency vehicle, ambulances (and a walkie-talkie radio) will be nearby

*Preferred MD/Nurse and Athletic Trainer.

Throughout Race Day there are many things that just pop up that need to be done. This position is needed to be flexible and able to move around throughout the day.

Responsibilities may include:

- Bouncer of the FedEx Parking Lot ensuring that only volunteers park in the lot.
- Hang Banners
- Setup Selfie Stations
- Fill in for any volunteer positions (if needed)
- Placing trash bins
- Starting generators
- Assisting in tear down of the Drumstick Dash
- Always go to Command if unsure of what to do

The Drumstick Dash is all about having a FUN and your job is to make this the most fun thing to do on Thanksgiving! This year there will be some changes when it comes to this physical race. There will be two start times for the race to allow for social distancing between participants, 8:00am and 10:00am. This will mean that there will be two waves of participants finishing the race. Please be sure to stay till the end of your shift and tell your volunteer leader before you leave.

Responsibilities may include:

- Setup the food court area (tables, pipe, visqueen, trash boxes, etc) and make sure all Covid-19 deadlines are being met.
- Set out pre-made food bags for participants to grab
- Replenish food bags onto tables as needed
- Restocking, tear down boxes, manage trash and trash boxes around the food court area.
- Clean up and tear down food court area.
- Load extra food bags onto trucks.

This year in the midst of COVID-19 we want to be sure that our volunteers, participants and staff are well cared for. That is the reason that we have made the decision to have our Expo go virtual as a way of limiting unnecessary touch points.
We will be mailing all packets/goody bags to our participants prior to Race Day. Because there are thousands of participants normally, we need your help to stuff packets and prepare any prep that needs to be done for Race Day.

Responsibilities may include:
• Stuffing mailers with the corresponding shirt
• Sealing envelopes
• Completing certain prep tasks that are needed for Race Day
